Congratulations on accepting your virtual teaching assignment with Fullmind! We know that teaching in a virtual environment brings its own set of unique challenges and opportunities. To ensure you’re fully prepared, we've compiled a guide to help you navigate the next steps seamlessly. By following these steps, you’ll be well-equipped to deliver high-quality virtual instruction that aligns with district expectations while creating an engaging and effective online learning experience. We're here to support you every step of the way in your virtual classroom.
Checklist for a Successful Start:
1. Have the Educator Platform & Compensation Explainer readily available for quick reference.
2. Obtain all necessary information on accepted teaching assignments
- Student’s state of residence
- Subject
- Grade
- Program Type- (homework help, homebound, tutoring, etc.)
- Teacher of Record (TOR) outreach, if provided
3. Message the Teacher of Record (TOR) if one was provided (use sample script). If TOR was NOT provided, or you do NOT receive a response from TOR.
- Search for state standards appropriate to the grade level and subject area of assignment.
- Search the district website for instructional calendars, scope and sequence, etc. It is also recommended that you use the state testing blueprint to identify priority standards.
- Curate your lesson centered around standards and critical concepts for grade level and subject (use your professional experience and judgment)
You may also email the Academics Team for instructional support. Fullmind is curriculum agnostic and does not provide a set of instructional materials.
4. Review Mini-lesson Expectations - Plan and Be Ready to Record.
- Mini-lessons are required for every lesson when a student does not show, or if the student did not receive at least 15 minutes of instruction within the session.
- Mini-lessons begin when there are 20 minutes left in a scheduled session and must be at least 15 minutes of high-quality, condensed instruction.
- Mini-lessons will cover the content that would have been covered during the live session. Refer to the help article on Mini-Lesson Expectations for instructions.
- Review our Mini Lessons in 4 simple steps video.
5. Request a demo live session - so you can “play” and learn your virtual classroom by following the instructions to create a demo account here!
